Gmail is invitation free
By Madhur Kapoor on Feb 16, 2007 in Google, Tech
Finally after more than 2 years of its launch ,Google’s gmail service is now invitation free - anyone can directly register without being invited by another Gmail user . Representatives of Google say that they have decided to drop the invitation-only restriction because it is good for users. They now want to focus on the users’ needs first.
But one thing still remains …the beta status

Yup, it’s still in beta. I wonder when will it come out of that stage. Still, it’s now available for everyone!

So I wonder how many people are signing up for the first time… I have had gmail for years. I remember when invites sold on ebay for hundreds of dollars.
