GTA IV in controversy already

5 April 2007 4 Comments

Its been a week since the trailer of GTA IV was released and already the game is running into bad waters. Some New York politicians seem to be angry at Rockstar for basing there game in the “the safest city in America” .

Here’s what was written in the news .

The latest version of an ultraviolent video game will unleash its murderous mayhem on the streets of New York. And outraged political leaders say the rampant brutality of the game, Grand Theft Auto IV, has little in common with reality.

“Setting Grand Theft Auto in the safest big city in America would be like setting Halo in Disneyland,” said City Councilman Peter Vallone, chairman of the Council’s Public Safety Committee…

…”It’s despicable to glamorize violence in games like these, regardless of how far-fetched the setting may be,” said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

I dont think it will have a much effect on the game’s popularity . Infact it will make it even more popular . One more reason to buy GTA IV.

I don’t know who said NY is the safest city for driving. My experiences with driving in NY is not safe at all. Half the cab drivers are driving like in the Indian roads.
