ManHunt 2 Banned in UK

21 June 2007 7 Comments

Rockstar seems to be heading into some more trouble with its very popular “Manhunt 2 ” game . The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has banned the game in UK which means that it will not be available legally in UK . Its the first time in 1 years when a game has been banned , the last being “Carmageddon” which was banned for having players run down pedestrians . However the ruling was over turned .

ManHunt 2

ManHunt 2 is the follow up to the game ManHunt which enabled players to kill the enemy in lots of gruesome ways . In Manhunt 2 , you play as a psycho asylum escapee which kills the enemies in gruesome ways . According to BBFC director David Cooke

Rejecting a work is a very serious action and one which we do not take lightly. Where possible we try to consider cuts or, in the case of games, modifications which remove the material which contravenes the Board’s published Guidelines. In the case of Manhunt 2 this has not been possible. Manhunt 2 is distinguishable from recent high-end video games by its unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone in an overall game context which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing. There is sustained and cumulative casual sadism in the way in which these killings are committed, and encouraged, in the game

The game is scheduled to be released on 9th July for the PS2 and Wii and will be released with a “Adult Only” rating in other countries . I hope they release the PC version too .
