Robot Replay : Watch your Website users

17 July 2007 14 Comments

Robot Replay is an AJAX based application that allows you to record and watch your website/blog users in action . You can record how users interact with your site and watch these events later at your ease . It can record mouse movement , click and keystrokes so you get a completely detailed picture .

To enable this service you will need to place a javascript code in the head section of the page you want to be monitored . After that the user events in that page are monitored and sent to RobotReplay . When the user session is over , you can playback it .

This thing has got a lot of advantages . You can find out about how the users are navigating around the sites , which things they find interesting , is your site navigation friendly etc . To use this service , just signup at there site and you will get the javascript code . I have not yet tried this service , if anyone does it , do share the experience through comments .

In the meantime watch the examples of mouse gestures and Form Replay .

I don’t know if I want to try it.. I don’t see the point. But don’t get me wrong, i think its cool. Specialy if your site if kind of busy, since my site is new, i dont think it would be that interesting.

Nice. But I wonder whether it will slow down the page loading time.

Great find. As much as I wanna give it a whirl, I’m worried that I would start focusing on yet ANOTHER part of my site! AY YI YI But I’m sure that people who are serious about ad placement and the like would find this very very helpful. I really should check this out sometime.

:O Great find, Madhur. I too suspect it’ll slow down page loads.

It’s quite interesting. I wonder how much load it will give to the server? ;)

I think at current rate, my blog already has too much metrics code and other what-nots under its hood.
