Which antivirus do you use ?

I recently formatted my computer and installed Windows XP along with Windows Vista . I would like to find out which antivirus software you guys are using . I have been using Norton Antivirus 2005 in my Windows XP but it doesnt work in Windows Vista, also the latest version of Norton takes a lot of system resources.

Please recommend and tell me through comments which antivirus or anti-spyware software are you using ?

    Hi buddy,
    I’ve been using the free version of AVG for a few years and it’s been great. It’s light on your resources and you can update it whenever you want.

    For spyware protection, I use Spybot search and destroy. I try different anti-spyware apps from time to time.

    I use Avast and have been 100% happy.

    I don’t care for AVG to much. I’ve ran it on a few computers without the best results.

  5. I use avast. Its great. :D

    Even i have been using Spybot , a nice tool to catch spywares . I will be sure to give AVG a try .

    @Kyle
    I tried Avast free before but its update feature was not that much good.

    @kanak
    Even i have been using Norton 05 till now . I feel even if an older version is performing well , there is no need to change it

    @pooya
    I havent tried Kaspersky , will give it a try now .

  7. I too use AVG and as Brown said, it’s extremely LIGHT on system resources. That’s one of the reasons I love it.

    For spyware detection, I use Spybot as well as Ad-Aware

    I don’t use any AV. I feel they are BS. Honestly I’ve not used any AV for the last 3-4 years. :D

  9. @Shankar
    AVG is getting a lot of supprt . I am thinking of going for it .

    @Ashwin
    Even i dont like Antivirus that much . Earlier i also didnt use AV but since i was on college LAN with about 1000 computers connected , got affected by around 2-3 virus . So its a necessity for me .

    You could try ClamWin but Avast has done it for me for the last 2 years or so. You do have to re-register every 14 months but I don’t think it has updates problem anymore.

  11. @K-IntheHouse
    I am unable to decide between AVG and Avast

  12. For years I use AVG, it’s free, easy to manage and keeps your resources free for other things.

    I haven’t used windows for a long time now.. But I’ve tried almost all AVs available and NOD32 was the BEST among them…Don.t ever use Norton.. Among the free ones Avast is be pretty good..

  15. I’m using Norton AntiVirus 2007 in my Window VISTA, I don’t see much problem with that. I don’t necessarily hesitate to recommended Norton AV. It works great for me!

    I use Symantec Corporate version for XP and for Vista Nod32. I found both of them to be very good. Out of these two I love Nod32 very much.

    Avg is ok. Actually, in recent tests, ESET is the best. Go to there site and search for tests. Kaspersky is almost the crappest, followed by Norton and AVG.
