How to open UIF Files

22 September 2008 25 Comments

UIF ( Universal Image Format ) is a powerful image compression file format for backing CD/DVD. One of the advantages it has over other formats such as ISO etc is that it also supports compression and the file size is reduced. It also supports password protection and encryption keep your data safe. This format is becoming quite popular these days and you can occasionally find such formats when you download a torrent. So how do you actually read the contents of an UIF file.

MagicISO

You will need to install a software called MagicISO which unfortunately is not free. But don’t worry, the trial version will be enough to do your job. After installing the application, just run it and go to File –> Open and select your UIF file. After you open it, it will get loaded and you will have a chance to extract it contents. Select the extract option by right click as shown above. After clicking on the extract option, you will be asked the location where you want to extract the file as shown below.

MagicISO1

Select the location where you want the file to be extracted and click “Ok”. The files in the UIF files will all get extracted there.

MagicISO 3

You can eve use it to convert your UIF file to other formats such as ISO, NRG, BIN etc. Go to tools – > Convert and select the options there. After the conversion, the ISO, NRG files can be mounted directly by using utilities such as Daemon Tools.

Hope you have found this tutorial useful.
