Security is always a key issue for a Windows user. To keep our PC secure, we install AntiVirus software, anti spyware, install critical windows update as well as software updates. Normally a Windows user has 20+ software installed on the computer. Going through each software’s website to check for updates is a time consuming task that none of us would like to do. Secunia has developed a nice application called Personal Software Inspector (PSI) that automates such tasks.

It will scan your system for software that have been outdated or require critical software updates. It quietly runs in the background and keep tracks of applications that require updates. It can recognize more than 30,000 products and it gathers information from a lot of online sources. After the scan, it will present you with a list of issues which were detected along with download links to the updated versions. You can choose it to ignore certain programs if you want. It can periodically check your computer and alert you in case of any issues.

This is a great and easy way to keep track of all the software installed on your system. It is a freeware and works on Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista.

Great app. It’s a mission keeping track of all your software updates, which makes it hard to monitor your internet usage.
