We all need to search our computer for files some time. The default Windows XP search is quite pathetic and takes too much times (Windows Vista search is a bit better). DK Finder is a desktop search tool that uses smart indexing algorithms to index files and give instant results.

Since it uses ‘Indexing’, it will first scan your disks and create an index based upon it. The initial indexing may take time depending upon the size of the disks but it is worth the effort. You will also have to reindex files periodically so that it detects any new additions or deletions but that happens very fast. After the indexing, the search will be super fast. You can also perform filtering based on size, date or by keywords inside the files. It also gives you an option to create your own presets which can associate itself file types. The interface is simple and easy to use.

I would highly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a program which gives fast result and also is low on system resources. So which program do you use to search for files ?

Looks pretty decent. Currently I am using Locate32 for my local file searches.

stratosg: I think it is smaller than Google Desktop!
