Windows 7 System Requirements

2 May 2009 No Comment

Microsoft has released the Windows 7 RC for the Technet subscribers and it will also be released for the general public next week. Microsoft has also released the Windows 7 System Requirements for the Windows 7 RC. While Windows 7 is scheduled to release later this year, it will not be much different from the RC and the system requirements will almost the identical.

Here are the minimum system requirements that Microsoft released.

  • 1GHz processor (32- or 64-bit)
  • 1 GB of RAM (32-bit); 2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB of available disk space (32-bit); 20 GB of available disk space (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

If you are also planning to run Windows XP mode along with Windows 7, Microsoft has recommended at least 2GB of RAM and 15 GB of additional disk space. The system requirements are final and not SKU specific. It looks like most of the system will be able to run Windows 7 and the requirements are also not much different from that of Windows Vista.
