If you use CD/DVDs to store your stuff, then it may become hard to remember which CD/DVD has the file that you are looking for. InsideCAT is a disk cataloguing program for CD/DVD ROMs, Audio CDs, Floppies, Zip Drives etc. Using this, you can catalogue your CDs in a central database for easy searching and browsing.

The program can also catalogue Archives and supports a lot of zip formats including ZIP, RAR, CAB, ACE, JAR, ARJ, LZH, LHA, ARC, ZOO, PAK, TAR etc. It also supports around 22 types of media files. Once your disks are catalogued, they can be searched offline quickly. Its powerful search tool also works with tags in the files like PDF and mp3. You can also select files for compilation and they can be saved in a single step. The program offers a simple text search along with advanced search including use of regular expressions, wildcards etc. The indexing is quick and files can be searched quickly.

The lite version of this utility is free and allows you to create around 100 catalogues. The program is a freeware and works on Windows.
