HeliosPaint is a Free Paint Program

HeliosPaint is a free Paint Program for Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OSX. It is quite similar to paint with some nice features and it can be used to edit and create images.

The program has got a nice interface similar to paint and users will have no problem with it. Some of its features include

  • Pencil for editing pixels
  • Paint Brush with adjustable size and edge feathering
  • Curved, straight and freehand lines with choice of width, dash pattern, line joint and arrow heads
  • Paint Can with local and global replace. Colour bleed sensitivity allows nearby similar colours to be painted
  • Image colour and transparency adjustment by flat, round, rectangular and ‘fit to shape’ gradient patterns. This allows areas of the image to be darkened, brightened and colour enhanced.
  • Scissors, lasso and wand for selecting and moving an area of the image. Sensitivity of lasso and wand is adjustable
  • Save selected area as transparent gif or transparent png file.
  • Export image to PDF file
  • Reads and writes image file formats: bmp, gif, jpg/jpeg, pct/pict, pcx, pgm, png, ppm, psd, ras, tga, tif/tiff, wbmp, xpm
  • Supports images up to 12 megapixels in size

The program has been written in Java Programming language.

The program is a freeware and runs on Windows, Linux as well as MacOSX.
