Excursion to Manali

I returned from my trip to Manali on Sunday and would like to share my experiance with you all .

I along with 2 of my friends started the journey on 11th March . We decided to catch a deluxe Bus to Manali which goes from Chandigarh at around 1:30 Am . We took a bus to Chandigarh and reached there by around 8 Pm . Since we had plenty of time in our hand , we decided to watch the movie “Taxi No 9211″ . The movie was good but it got finished by 11:30 Pm and still we had plenty of time before the Deluxe Bus came . We roamed about the market for some time and visited a ” City Centre - Bar Cum restaurant “. It was open All night and we all had a chilled beer while watching A football match on there 40 inch screen .After leaving it was almost time for the bus so we returned to the Bus Stand and waited for the Bus to Arrive . Finally the bus arrived at around 3:00 Am and luckily we got the seats .

We arrived in Manali at 2:00 Pm the next day and luckily we got a decent room for 300 Rs a day . The room was good and had television , nice bathroom , geyser etc . That day since we were quite tired we just roamed about the Mall road watching the shops and enjoying the fine weather .

Next Day we took a Taxi and decided to visit Rohtang Pass . Rohtang Pass, 51 kms from Manali. Located at a height of 3980 m, the Pass once served as a crucial trade route, and still remains the gateway to the districts of Lahaul and Spiti. The Pass provides wonderful views of the entire surroundings. Just beyond the Pass is the Sonapani Glacier and the twin peak of Gaypan. The Beas Kund, the source of the Beas river, a holy site for Hindus, as the sage Vyas is said to have meditated at this spot, is also accessible from the Rohtang Pass.

The place was very beautiful with snow covered mountains where we tried Skiing for the first time , also played in ice sliding down ,throwing ice balls etc . We also experianced snowfall there for the first time in our Life .We stayed there till the evening enjoying a clicking pics .

The next 2 days the weather was bad since it snowed and rained the whole day so we were mostly confined within our room watching movies . I was quite surprised to see that despite the cold weather people were playing Holi in water , the weather not being able to Dampen there spirits for the festival .

Next day we visited a place Called Vashisht .

It was Three kms from Manali and is renowned for its hot sulphur springs. The village is also the site of some old temples, dedicated to the great sage Vashisht, and to Lord Rama.

Next Day we visted Kullu and Manikaran .

Manikaran is situated in Parbati Valley at the distance of 32 km from Bhuntar. The water from the hot sulphur spring at Manikaran is said to have medicinal value and is a cure for an number of chronic ailments. Manikaran is also known for temple of ‘Lord Shiva’ who remained in ‘Samsadhi’ for eleven thousand year in ‘Treta Yug’ . Temple of ‘Maryada Parshotam Ram’ Naina Mata and Gurdwara are also there.

The journey was long and we returned in the evening . Since we have visited most of the places we booked our return tickets to Chandigarh for the next day .

It was the good bye time . We took our Bus at around 3:00 Pm and reached Chandigarh by 1:00 Am . After that we took a bus back to our college and the journey was over .
