The all new Firefox Start Page
As you might have known, the Mozilla foundation is working on improving user retention rates, since they’ve realised that not all people who download Firefox continue to use it. Just 50 percent of the people who download Firefox continue to use it.
They had devised a 12 point plan to improve retention rates, and one among them was to create a first run start page (the default page that opens up when you install and try Firefox).
They’ve made it, and the colourful new start page highlights the most important Firefox features - tabs, search, security and extensions - all that newbies must know.
Live Preview of the new page is here.
Well presented with big buttons, the first run page is a lot better than the old one that came with the previous versions. What do you think? Will this improve Firefox User retention rates? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

I don’t think this alone is going to increase numbers in FF’s favor but it certainly is a useful addition to the existing user base
Highlighting the most important features is a smart move. Whether it will be effective remains to be seen. I like it. Good work on your guest post there buddy.
I never bother to look at the the start up page whenever I update my Firefox. But this one is a lot better than the previous one. Thanks for updating us.
It looks good, but does it help in user retenetion we have to and see. I never use the default start page, i use iGoogle as my start page.
I’m not sure what kind of effect this will have on retaining users.
I think a lot of us like to try several browsers. I happen to use Firefox/Flock most of the time, but I always download new versions of each browser and give them a fair shot at winning me over.
Thanks for dropping by to comment, guys.
In my view, this move may bring a slight increase in retention rates, since they’re highlighting the most beautiful and usable features of Firefox.
@Kyle: Hehe I too like trying new browsers, but nothing matches the kind of stuff that my Foxie offers
Even i have started to use firefox a little bit .
change is human nature now even software also follows
I love Firefox! It’s not as finicky as other browsers, especially IE
It made me laugh that he went to Confession before any jump. ,
