On Tuesday , Microsoft unveiled its second generation three new models of “Zune” digital media players. The move was quite expected has Apple to recently launched there new series of Apple iPod’s.
The black model of Zune - will have a hard disk of 80 GB and a 3.2 inch screen and it will be more slimmer than the previous version. They also unveiled a new small flash memory based zune which is quite similar to Apple iPod Nano having a memory of 4 or 8 GB. The new models will have a new navigation touch pad button along with a shiny screen. It will also include a FM player and the ability to wirelessly share songs with other users . The Wi-Fi can also be used to synchronize photos , music, movies between the zune and the computer. The new Zunes will also be able to sync with Window Media Center on Windows Vista Pc’s.
The new models are going to be available from mid November . The 4 GB one will cost you $149 , 8GB will be available for $199 while 80GB will cost $249. The prices are similar to that of Apple IPod. Microsoft will need to make a bigger push if they want to really challenge Apple . Apple sold more than 100 million iPod’s at the end of last fiscal year while Microsoft was able to sell around 1.2 million Zune. Clearly I dont think the introduction of new models will have an immediate impact , but a little competition is always good for everybody. What do you guys think ?

But they have to lower their prices if they want to compete iPods.
I like Zune, except for the prices. If the prices get lower, I might think to buy one.
