Sync Folders, Share Files, Chat and VNC securely with Gbridge
Gbridge is a free software that lets you sync folders, share files, chat and VNC securely and easily. It sets up virtual private network between any computers on the Internet using Google Talk service. There are many other similar software but they all require you to download client or create an account. This one only requires that you have a gmail account as it makes use of Google Talk. It enables you to connect your computer and your friend’s computer directly and securely.
It offers different functions based on the way it is used. If you use it on a single computer, you can can EasyBackup to automatically backup your important directory locally. You can also use it chat with your Google Talk friends and invite them to try Gbridge. The real functionality comes when it is running on different computers. You can then use it to access your files across computers easily and securely through SecureShare. You can even backup your files to different computers or use AutoSync to copy big files and sync folders between different computers. If your friends are also using Gbridge, you can share your photos and videos with your friends easily. You can even share your Computer Desktop with your friends or offer remote assistance. You can control which folders do you want to share and you can password protect certain folders so that they are only accessible to friends who have the password. It promises that it finds the best possible connection where performance is concerned. Its configuration is also very easy, you don’t have to be an expert to set up a VPN. The UI is pretty good although it requires a bit of getting used to.
Overall, i feel it is good software with lots of nice features which other free tools don’t offer. It runs on Windows 2000/XP/Vista and needs a Gmail account.
