  • Whoismadhur.com redesigned - 2

You might be surprised to see the new look of my site. The old theme was getting too boring and seemed a little dull so i decided to go for a new look. The new theme is the illacrimo theme by Design Disease. I think this looks much better than the old one . I haven’t made any major changes to the css in this one as the default one was good enough.

I would like to thank Nirmal for creating those beautiful Social Bookmarks icons which you can see after the end of the post. I have also added a few plugins like Random Post , Full Feed , Google Sitemap Generator , Subscribe to comments. I am also going to add a contact form , a movie ratings page similar to Ashwin , an advertise page and also an updated About - me page. I will also be trying out a few new adsense arrangements to improve my CTR.

Do give your postive/negative comments on the new design . Any suggestion would be welcome.

  • Computer Woes

Life without computers can sure be tough even if were for a day or two . Unfortunately i discovered it the hard way . Two days ago , while i was watching a movie on my computer , there was a sudden voltage fluctuation and my computer simply turned off .

After that, when i tried to switch it back on, it refused to do so . Then i realized my SMPS was probably screwed . To my horror , my UPS also got screwed . So two bad things in one night for me . The nearest place i could get all these stuff was Shimla which was around 25 Km from my college .I couldnt leave my college for 2 days due to classes and stuff . Luckily , yesterday most of my classes was off, and so i was finally able to purchase all those things . All these expenditure reduced my pocket by Rs 2500 but finally it was good to see my computer back on again .

  • Bill Gates Harvard Commencement Speech

Thanks to Dan for informing me about this . On June 7th 2007 Bill Gates gave quite a fantastic commencement speech at Harvard . He also became a college graduate as a degree was awarded to him too . The speech is worth reading . This paragraph in particular is quite inspiring

In line with the promise of this age, I want to exhort each of the graduates here to take on an issue – a complex problem, a deep inequity, and become a specialist on it. If you make it the focus of your career, that would be phenomenal. But you don’t have to do that to make an impact. For a few hours every week, you can use the growing power of the Internet to get informed, find others with the same interests, see the barriers, and find ways to cut through them. Don’t let complexity stop you. Be activists. Take on the big inequities. It will be one of the great experiences of your lives.

A Must to read and follow .
