Autopatcher is history

For those who are unfamiliar , Autopatcher was a well known install system with which one can update there Windows Operating System . It not only contained all the official security fixes provided by Microsoft , but also a good collection of add-ons and registry tweaks. But now the autopatcher has been shutdown by the people from Microsoft.

Apart from this it also had a huge number of advantages to system administrators as well as end users . It allowed the power users to build there own custom install disks with all the latest patches , it also provided the facility to update your computer in an efficient manner .

It is sad to know that Microsoft has decided to shut it down now after 4 years of its existence . I have been a regular user of Autopatcher and has loved it since the beginning . I think Microsoft probably did this because of the validation process and such painful stuff.

Whats Next

The folks at Autopatcher are sure going to keep this project alive . They are aiming towards a web based solution which might be available at around October or so. You can read more about it here. So have you used Autopatcher in the past ? whats your opinion in this matter?
