Ultra File Search is a free Search Utility for Windows which can quickly find files, folder, text on Local, Network, DVD, CD ROM drives as well as USB drives. For searching, you can specify several File Mask and multiple file drives and folders at the same time.

You can sort out files and folders according to their properties and find files which contain one or more specific words or sentences. The search results can also be ordered by columns and the results can also be exported in various formats. The interface has three tabs which are “Files and Folders”, “Containing Text” and “Date and Size”. The utility does not do any background scanning or use any disk space. Some of its features include

  • Search for Files or Files and Folders or only Folders.
  • Can search on the basis of several File Masks at the same time
  • Search of files which contain one or more words or sentences
  • Filter for Files Newer than or Older than or within a specific Date range
  • The results can be put in order by column: upward, downward or neither of them
  • Specific actions can be carried out on the results (e.g. Open Folder, Open Containing Folder)
  • Shows search statistics as found Files and Folders, Search Time, controlled Objects, Speed

The utility is not as fast as you would expect from other desktop search utilities but it is nice tool which can be used with other Desktop Search Utilities. It is free for personal use and runs on Windows.
