Customize the DOS Console with ColorConsole

28 July 2009 2 Comments

If you do a lot of work on the Windows Command Shell and you are tired of the same black screen layout, then ColorConsole can make you life a bit easier. ColorConsole is an alternative to the Windows Command Shell and you can use it to customize the command shell by changing the background and font colours, multiple tabs and much more.

It requires no installation and you can run it directly. A console Window will open which you can customize according to your needs by changing the background and foreground colours. You can also open several tabs at once and enjoy a tabbed experience. You can also format selected portions of the text similar to a word processor. One of the best features is offers is that you can directly export the screen and its contents to a HTML or an RTF file so the results can be easily saved. You can even print the result and it even offers Print Preview functionality. You can also save frequently used commands for quick access and can run Chdir by selecting the folders from an Explorer menu instead of manually typing all the folders path. You can even change the text size and you can easily copy-paste stuff.

This is a very useful utility for those who work a lot on the command shell. It is very small in size and requires no installation. It is a freeware and runs on all the version of Windows.
